Camera Firmware

The Rhombus ecosystem provides regular device firmware updates which include security patches, feature updates, and more. These updates are released approximately once a month to continually improve the cameras and features included with them.

Camera Firmware Behind

If you notice that your camera’s firmware is not up to date, you may follow either of the following steps:

a. Power cycling

A simple power cycle can often resolve the issue. To power cycle your camera, follow these steps:

    1. Disconnect the Ethernet cable from both the camera and the Power Over Ethernet (POE) switch.
    2. Wait for about 30 seconds.
    3. Reconnect the Ethernet cable to the camera and the PoE switch.

This process will reboot the camera and allow it to attempt an automatic firmware update upon restarting. For additional troubleshooting steps and guidance, please refer to our Networking Best Practices, Supported Network Protocols, or Camera Troubleshooting Guide. If the problem persists, ensure that your camera is properly registered on the network and consult with the network admin department as necessary. For further assistance, contact our support team with the camera information and serial number along with the troubleshooting steps you have already taken.

b. Manually Update Firmware

To check the firmware version a camera is running, navigate to that camera in the console and scroll down to Camera Details & Settings. Click "More Details." The firmware version will be on the right-hand side.

Note: If you have proper permissions, the option to "Update Firmware" will be here as well.

Setting a Firmware Update Schedule

To minimize network interference, firmware updates can be scheduled for specific times and days of the week.

1. To set a firmware update schedule navigate to Settings > Firmware Updates (circled in red below).

2. Select the days you'd like your devices to update (this will only occur when an update is available). Your devices will update one at a time, beginning at the selected start time. If the updates are unable to finish within the chosen time duration, they will stop until the next scheduled opening.
